Re-Action is the ability to act to avoid a threat. The threat can be a health challenge that brings attention to the need to change bad habits, or the cost of the medications and insurance premiums related to your health status.
Your motivation may be the choice for a better quality of life and the ability to return to a chosen leisure, or to prevent a disease or its complications, like a fall which can be a life changing event. Which ever is your motivation, you will gain a sense of control over your life.
Whatever are your goals and reasons for seeking them, your personal trainer will guide and assist you every step of the way.
Wellness is defined as the state of being healthy in body and in mind, especially as an active sought goal.
As we age, our bodies experience physical and physiological changes. Adopting regular physical activity as part of a healthy lifestyle is one of the most important things older adults can do for their health. Physical activity can prevent many of the health problems that may come with age.
In 2008, the U.S. Department of Health &Human Services released physical activity guidelines stating that adults gain substantial health benefits from engaging in 150 minutes a week of moderate intensity aerobic physical activity. Older adults need to do two types of physical activity each week to improve health- aerobic and muscle strengthening. Older adults should also do exercise that maintain or improve balance if they are at risk of falling.
BENEFITS of EXERCISE includes:
* Lower risk of
-coronary heart disease and stroke
-high blood pressure and high cholesterol
-colon and breast cancer
* Prevention of weight gain
* Weight loss, particularly when combined with reduced calorie intake
* Prevention of falls and lower risk of hip fracture
* Reduced depression and improved sleep quality
* Better brain function
